Cunningham Family: Family Time

We've had some fun quality family time outside now that summer is here! We went hiking at Lake Barryessa--but we did a new trail this time. It was along a canyon with a creek and the view was beautiful. However, this trail had tons of ticks since some parts we had to "bush whack" our way through:) So when we were back at the car (after hiking and eating our picnic lunch) we had to brush crawling ticks off our pants and I pulled one out of my armpit...I know, it was pretty gross, but growing up in the boonies of Oklahoma, it wasn't the first tick I've ever yanked from my body:) I'll stop talking now...lol

***Garden
Another thing we've gotten to do as a family is work in the garden. There are community gardens behind our complex on campus for only $20 a plot per year. So we cleared out our plot and put a fence around it and then planted in April. Now we're just watering and weeding every other day and waiting for fresh, organic pepper varieties, tomatoes, green beans, squash, zucchini, carrots, watermelon, and pumpkins!

We put a water table and slide (purchased from garage sales:) out in the plot to keep her occupied on the longer evenings when she gets tired of weeding or digging:) She loves going out there and helping haul things in the wheelbarrow (they have a tool shed out there with tools that everyone can use) looking for and catching bugs and eating things off the vine:)

***bike ride
We didn't get any pictures--which I'm so mad about!--but we went on a 30 mile bike bike ride to Winters and back with some friends. It wasn't too bad on the road bikes and this area has great biking trails everywhere. We put Bailey and the Trocoll's daughter, Amaya, in the bike trailer (which poor Dale had to pull) and we were off! It was lots of fun and after biking 14 miles to Winters, we had lunch, relaxed at the creek and watched the girls play and then we biked 14miles back to Davis. The way back was hardest because I was super full and by then the heat had come in. But it was lots of fun--we love biking wherever we can, especially in a place where they make it so convenient with nice bike paths everywhere.

***Memorial Day Weekend
For Memorial Weekend Josh and Carissa came down to visit from Medford and we met up with some friends at the coast. It was lots of fun seeing the Redwoods, hiking, and roasting hotdogs at the beach.
